On days when you don’t make incense, you can scent your home with the delicate aroma of sakura, the emblematic cherry blossom of Japan.

Abalone Shell
The abalone shell is a precious ritual object. By placing a little marble dust inside, it serves as an incense bowl. Its mother-of-pearl interior displays beautiful iridescent reflections. It is said to provide a feeling of protection, purity, and balance. Smudging with abalone invokes the divine force of fire and the spirit of water in an energetic cleansing ritual.

California White Sage
“What can a man die of who has sage in his garden?” This phrase from a treatise of the Salerno Medical School (12th-13th centuries) is significant. Sage is a medicinal plant whose name comes from the Latin word salvare, meaning to save or heal. It grows wild in southwestern North America, primarily in California and northwestern Mexico. Most of its beneficial properties are concentrated in the leaves, which absorb the sun’s energy and produce a large quantity of essential oils that give the plant its aroma. They release a very pleasant scent that promotes a sense of well-being. Our sage is 100% naturally grown, without fertilizers or pesticides.

Instructions for use
– Place a small amount of marble dust inside the abalone shell.
– Light the bundle with a match. Blow on it to fan the flames and let it go out. Be careful of sparks!
– Place the lit part of the bundle inside the shell on top of the marble dust.
– Incense: Bring the smoke close to the people participating in the ritual. With the feather, direct the smoke to the head, back, arms, legs…
– Cleansing: Walk through the space to be purified with the shell, dispersing the smoke with the feather. Let it reach where your intuition guides you.
Remember that intention is the foundation of any smudging: if your heart is pure and your desire noble, you will enhance its effects.

Tokusen Sakura Usuzumi Incense, a breath of eternity
– ‘Usuzumi no Sakura’, the gray-flowered cherry tree, is a giant and very old cherry tree that lives in the mountains of Gifu. It is said to have been planted by Emperor Keitai 1500 years ago and, every spring, it blooms like a miracle of life.
– This incense has a sensual cherry blossom fragrance with sandalwood and Japanese cypress oil that creates a feeling of calm and serenity.
– Use: Light a stick, blow out the flame, and place it in the marble dust inside the shell.
– Low smoke incense.

Ventilate after use. Do not inhale the smoke directly.
